HARTSHEAD MISTY SWANSONG
MEGAN

PEDIGREE

FLATCOAT INDEX

Megan came to live with us in December 1996. Her owner and breeder, Karen Roberts, had tragically died of cancer at a young age in the summer, and Karen’s husband could not work and care for a kennel full of dogs as well; so some of them were found new homes. My son Andy was enraptured when she arrived..“ I didn’t know she was going to be so beautiful”.. he said. Actually Meg was sad when she came. Her life must have changed so drastically over the last year. Yet she settled very well and although she had always lived in kennels and with a family without children she soon became used to home life. One of her favourite times of day was the walk to school to pick up the kids, for everyone in the playground made such a fuss of her. She was always so gentle and gracious. A real lady with a sense of fun.

Megan and I developed a special bond. I was not her Karen and never could be, and she was not my Ebony... but we somehow made a pact to love and care for each other anyway in our need. Meg had had one litter before she came to us, sired by SH CH Breamist Fire Falcon. We had many people who would have liked a Megan puppy because of her lovely nature but sadly it was not to be. Meg developed cancer of the spleen which had spread to the liver. I miss her every day and will always be grateful for the love and healing she brought us. She always licked her lips and put her head on your knee to say thank you for meals and the night before her operation she slept next to my bed, and whenever I woke and coughed or turned over, her tail thumped the floor. Dear Meg.
