FOXDOWN ALFINA
HOLLY

Holly came to live with us when she was nearly three years old. Her owner, who had changed jobs and houses and no longer had the time for her, was an ex colleague of Rogers and knew we had been interested in Tollers for some time. Our son had fallen in love with them at Crufts and we had promised him a puppy when a good one was available. When we were offered a puppy we had just had a litter of flatcoats and kept Willow, so the timing was not ideal, sense made us decline. When Holly came along 6 months later already “trained” it was an ideal opportunity to begin our involvement with this other breed. Thanks Phil!!!

Well we thought Flatcoats were lively! Tollers are like streaks of lightning when they want to be .. And so focused. Holly is a dedicated retriever, especially from water, as you would expect from this breed, and also works like a spaniel . There is not a hedge or ditch she does not investigate fully and she dives into brambles that the flatcoats would never even contemplate. She is lucky we live in the country by the river, although I do worry she may be mistaken for a fox! In Scandanavia hunting tollers wear flourescent yellow jackets so they can be identified.
